Instructions for Authors - JLIS

 

The Journal of Library and Information Science (JLIS) attempts to promote research and scholarly discussion on problems and policies concerning library and information science development. JLIS is devoted to advancing and disseminating the fundamental and applied knowledge in an accessible manner through research papers, surveys, book reviews, letters to editors, short communications, and the reproduction of special lectures.

1. Typescript Accepted: The journal accepts the research and survey papers. Research papers (Max length: 3000 words or 10 typed pages of A4 size including tables and figures) are expected to contain original research findings clearly and concisely.

2. Submission of Papers: Authors should submit the computer print in duplicate, typed in double space on one side of the A4 size ( 210 mm x 297 mm) paper, with a margin not less than 40 mm on the left side. Each copy should include (i) title page (ii) abstract, (iii) nomenclature of symbols used, (iv) table/figure/illustrations typed/drawn on separate sheets along with their captions in serial order as they appear in the text, and (v) a separate list of figure captions. The Editorial Board encourages authors to submit papers in electronic form in Word compatible files and request to send through mail at office@libinfosci.du.ac.in.

3. Headings for Sections and Sub-sections: i. Sectional headings and sub-headings should be appropriately placed with decimal subdivisions (e.g. 3, 3.4, 3.41, 3.411 ...) in Arabic numerals ii. The main section heading should be in Roman Bold Upper Case iii. The subheadings should be in Roman Upper Case. iv. The sub-sub headings should be in Roman Title Case.

4. Authorization Letter: Manuscripts are accepted to understand that they have not been and are not to be published elsewhere. Suppose a paper had been prepared for presentation in a meeting or as project work, or as a survey under an organization. In that case, due acknowledgement should be made, and permission from authorities should be obtained for publication. Please send a letter of authorization mentioning that the paper has not been sent for publication in any other publication. The editors have the right to make necessary changes in the contents of the papers.

5. Title of Paper: The title should include: the title of the paper, name(s) of the author(s) and affiliation(s), and the email address of the contact person to whom communication should be sent ( in case of multiauthored papers). The title should be concise and indicative of the contents of the article. The sub-title should be avoided unless necessary.

6. Abstract: The abstract should convey the scope of the paper, emphasizing the results and conclusions. The abstract must be intelligible on its own, without reference to the main text. The abstract should not include anything that is not covered in the paper. The abstract of a research paper should be about 200 words.

7. References: References must be provided in MLA style (latest edition).
