The new generation learning system namely e-learning is the emerging trend today which is based on the internet information technology revolution. The digital library has got a significant role to play to assist effective e-learning process. E-learning makes it possible for any people to learn the subject any time any where. This paper explains the benefits, and design guidelines for an e-learning system. Finally, it discusses the role of a digital library in the e-learning process.
