RAMAIAH (S). Development of Copyright Law and Practice in India . 11,2;1986 ;202-13

Tries to find out the foundation and philosophy of copyright law in general with the help of Art 27 of the Declaration of Human Rights, Whitford Committee (UK) Report on Copyright and Design Law 1977 and the observation of Justice Chinnappa Reddy of Supreme Court of India in Gramaphone Company's case. Then it traces the historic development of Indian Copyright Act 1957 with subsequent amendment right from beginning till today. It discusses in detail the novel features of the Act which do not find place in the copyright law of other countries. At last it discusses the case law as laid down by Supreme Court in various leading copyright cases.
