Highlights the use of science indicators to map a research area. Discusses briefly the various multivariate techniques used for this mapping. Illustrates, using case study of Condensed Matters Physics, employed to gain an insight into the intellectual structure of a research area, how these statistical techniques can be effectively employed. A review of work done in developing the cartography of science is also provided for further referential purpose.
