Quick Response Code to Promote Library Services: An Introduction

Abstract: QR codes are one of the tools to connect the users, and build a good relationship between the library services and its users. The paper is to encourage Indian librarians to apply mobile technology to their library services, to attract users to strengthen the library usage capacity, and to promote library profession among others by showing how to impart new technologies to give better services to the users in right place at right time. Highlight the usefulness of QR code in libraries and insights about mobile technology to Indian library professionals.

Use of Electronic Resources in the 21st century: A Review of Literature

Abstract: In the changing information environment, electronic information resources are dominating in the research activities and in turn researchers have realized the importance as well. The projects (e-JUST and IMPEL) undertaken by famous libraries and studies conducted by the professionals reveal that there is a good deal of electronic information resources but still express to conduct training / orientation programmes for the effective utilization of the resources. In this paper an attempt has been made to review the important findings of the previous studies and surveys conducted by the Library and Information Science professionals on use of e-resources.

Reading Habits among the Students of Women's Colleges in Aligarh: A Study

Abstract: This study reports on research into Women College students' reading habits and practices in Aligarh. The study revealed that reading books for gaining knowledge and enjoy reading while reading. However, some gadgets such as mobile, laptop, gossiping and T.V are killing too much time of women students. It is therefore suggested that there should be some check on the usage of these resources so that valuable time of the students should not get wasted. Instead, they may devote more time on reading to enhance their knowledge base in their age of competition.

The Knowledge Resources Center (KRC) of the institute has rich collection of information sources to provide sector specific education on Agribusiness and Plantation Management especially on tea, coffee, rubber and Spices related information. KRC relies on the tools of IT for providing right information to the right user in the right time. The paper presents the significance of IIPM Knowledge Resource Center in Information Collection, Services in Plantation and Agribusiness Education and Research in India.

Library Extension Service: A Case Study of Delhi Public Library System

Abstract:Libraries are the social institution and the success of a social institution depends on how much it is close to its community. Extension service provides the opportunities to the libraries to reach the door step to their users. The Third Law of Library Science demands the provision of extension service by the libraries. To furnish the information needs of the residents of Delhi, Government of India established the Delhi Public Library, which is a well-known Public Library System in Delhi. This paper describes the concept, objectives and types of extension service. Further, this paper highlights the extension services provided by Delhi Public Library System.

Abstract:The e-resources available in a library play an important role by helping the users in retrieving useful and timely information.This study examines the use of e-resources by faculty members of management institutions under GGSIP University, Delhi. The survey was conducted by using the questionnaire method to collect the data about the purpose of using, frequency of use, types of e-resources, and barriers encountered by faculty members while using e-resources.

Abstract:This paper describes the status of the National Policy/ Commission on the Library and Information System and Services in India. It represents how library was established, what steps have been taken by the Government of India for the holistic development of the Library from time to time via different platforms viz. Indian Five Year Plans, National Policy on Library and Information System, The Empowered Committee, the Working Group on Libraries (WGL), National Knowledge Commission (NKC) etc. It is now Library Community can hope for the holistic development of libraries in India.
