HELI MYLLYS. Information Systems Planning as a Tool of Developing Library work. The Case of Statistics Library. 14,1;1989;31-38

An information system planning method METO was applied in the Statistics Library in order to solve the problems of lacking automation, inefficient information services and other bottlenecks in work-flow. The planning project resulted in ten development projects for five years. The development was shown beneficial in better quality of library services, rationalization of work and better job satisfaction. It also had strong educational and psychological impact on the staff. The participative method used required a lot of work but secured full commitment of both staff and the present organization.
