Attempts to (a) identify targets for research in librarianship in the ASEAN countries (b) arrange the targets in some order of priority, and (c) consider the need to conduct courses in research methods for librarians. Concentrates mainly on public and school librarianship as it is these areas of librarianship that are most underdeveloped in the ASEAN countries. Since the contents of this paper span a wide geographical area, the targets identified for research may not be applicable to all countries.
