TYAGI (Anil Kumar). Online Searching: A Comparative Study of Search Strategies. 22,1-2;1997;5-15

Compares the two most widely used strategies as reported by Oldroyd. Uses case study method to carry out the study on searching the online databases. The study uses recall and precision to evaluate the effect of the two search strategies on the completeness and relevance of the output. Concludes that when precision was considered more important than recall then citation Pearl Growing Search Strategy was found more effective. If equal weight was assigned to recall and precision even then the Pearl Growing Search Strategy is more effective than the Building Block search strategy.
